Katarina Zeljić, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology - Chair of Genetics and Evolution. She holds BSc, MSc and PhD in Biology from the University of Belgrade and had professional training at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Katarina is involved in the conduction of a scientific project at the Laboratory for Molecular Genetics at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. Her main research interest is cancer molecular genetics and epigenetics. She is especially interested in research ethics. Katarina is involved in holding Genetics and Medical Genetics courses for BSc and MSc students. Also, she is one of the lecturers of the course „Bioethics“ for PhD students at the Faculty of Biology. She is responsible for the organization of lectures and workshops in Research Integrity. In the period 2011-2014, Katarina Zeljić was engaged as an Assistant Professor by invitation at the Faculty of Medicine at the Military Medical Academy. She taught the course „Biology and Human Genetics“.
From 2011 to 2014 Katarina Zeljić was a fellowship holder of the fourth cohort for the Advanced Certificate Course in Research Ethics for Central and Eastern Europe in the organization of Union Graduate College and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Katarina is an active member of the Serbian Genetic Society and Secretary at the National Committee for Bioethics of the UNESCO Comission of the Republic of Serbia, seated at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2013 she has joined the International Forum of Teachers of Bioethics.
